Iceni was established with a clear purpose: to use our expertise on work that benefits society.

We are selective about the assignments we take on, focusing on work where we believe we can make a positive contribution — from improving the infrastructure and services people rely on, to strengthening organisations and institutions, supporting responsible transitions, and advancing science and innovation.

We call this for-purpose work.

A different kind of consultancy

We have built Iceni around talented people rather than traditional consulting hierarchies.

Rather than maintaining a large permanent consulting team, we draw from a trusted network of consultants and experts. This gives us access to a broad range of expertise and allows us to choose people for the problem, rather than fit the problem to the people we have available.

The people we put forward stay close to the work. Our clients have direct access to senior people who can exercise judgement, challenge thinking, work well with others and take responsibility for what they deliver.

We can also work in the way the assignment requires — taking responsibility for a defined consulting outcome or providing an individual consultant or specialist to work as part of a client's team.

What matters to us

  • Public good

Our values have shaped Iceni from the beginning. They reflect both what we stand for and how we work.

  • Equity

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to reach their potential. We champion fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity, and seek to play our part in addressing the barriers that hold people back.

  • Outcomes focus

We stay focused on what needs to be achieved and produce practical work that helps our clients make decisions and take action.

  • Collective thinking

We know that no one person has the full picture. We actively seek out different perspectives and points of view to challenge our thinking and develop better advice.

  • One team

We work alongside our clients as one team — adapting to their environment, building strong relationships and sharing our knowledge along the way.

Our people

Our people come from different professional and sector backgrounds, but are united by our values and a shared commitment to work that makes a positive contribution.

We value people who bring different perspectives, work collaboratively and focus on achieving practical outcomes. We shape our teams around each assignment, bringing together the consulting and subject matter expertise needed for the challenge.

Giving back

Our commitment to contributing to society extends beyond the work we do for our clients.

Since Iceni was established, we have donated a proportion of our profits and provided pro bono support to organisations working to improve opportunities and outcomes for people and communities.

We have had a particular focus on initiatives supporting women and girls, including organisations addressing disadvantage, domestic and family violence, housing insecurity, education and employment.

Why Iceni?

Our name comes from the Iceni, the ancient British tribe led by Boudica in a rebellion against Roman rule almost 2,000 years ago.

When we founded Iceni, Boudica's courage to challenge the status quo, bring people together and lead change resonated with the kind of business we wanted to create.

Iceni has evolved considerably since then, but those ideas remain relevant: think differently, bring people together and have the courage to tackle challenges that matter.
