Cultivating mindsets for a better future: Lessons from The Future We Choose

One of the biggest challenges in visioning a better future is getting participants to believe in their power to influence change. It takes imagination and courage to go beyond the familiar and challenge current constraints.

At Iceni, we frequently work across government agencies to build unified, forward-looking visions, and we’ve found that empowering participants to think boldly is key.

Since reading The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis by @Christiana Figueres and @Tom Rivett-Carnac, we’ve been inspired by the authors’ three mindsets for transformative change: Stubborn Optimism, Endless Abundance and Radical Regeneration.

While they are rooted in the climate context, we believe they’re relevant to many other scenarios where people are striving to build a brighter future.

At Iceni, we have been exploring how we can build these mindsets in our workshops and share our thoughts below. If you’ve used similar strategies or have new ideas to share, we’d love to hear from you.
